No This Blog Isn't a Joke
March 31, 2016
It's not really an auspicious date to write my first blog in such a long time. But, I'm back. I have been so busy with an exhibition project, that I couldn't talk about, and with being the Convenor of the Creative Fibre National Exhibition that the blog just got put aside.
So, now that all the exhibition entries are in and have been through the selection process, I've got a bit of breathing space before we actually have to hang it. This is going to happen at the end of April and the Exhibition is part of the Creative Fibre Festival, Fibrant Auckland which is being held at Pukekohe from April 28 to May 1st. It's going to be a great event and I'm looking forward to taking part and to having a life back again after it is all over. Organising one of these Festivals is a huge undertaking and not for the fainthearted.
In the meantime, I have a couple of new Weaving students to "infect" with my passion.
Belinda and Victoria have visited my studio for the first session where they wove on my table loom and floor loom. The table loom went home with Victoria so she could weave off the scarf that she started, but Belinda had to leave the cotton table runner behind. She made a very good start with it.
Pretty good edges for the first piece of weaving ever.
I have now had the fun of weaving it off and have washed it and just need to turn over the edges and sew them to complete it. I'll be able to take it to Belinda tomorrow when we have our next session where we will plan a project, wind the warp and dress the loom. it's going to be a full on afternoon!
